Tailgating Cameras

Cameras that detect drivers who are driving too close to the vehicle in front are being developed for the Police. The cameras will record: the gap between two vehicles over a given distance; their speed; and any offending vehicles number plate. Drivers could be charged with Dangerous or careless driving offences (could make group riding interesting).

Ever wondered why Police cars changed from white to silver?

Well it's because its officially the top selling colour, knocking blue off the top spot. Every 3rd car sold last year was Silver leading blue, black, red, grey and green. Silver can add £250 to the value of a super mini, £450 to family cars and £500 on executive car

New Highways Contact Number
0845 60 80 193 is the new telephone number to call for any general enquiries, fault reports or feedback about the County's highways (roads and pavements) and street lighting. During office hours you will speak to a member of the Highways Customer Access team who will either answer your query or direct your call. You can also email the team:
highways@eastsussex.gov.uk. This is all part of the Council's Access Strategy drive to make it quick and easy for service users to find the information they need.

The Associate
Every observer is a volunteer and receives no remuneration for their efforts. Associates should agree a contribution with their observer, to assist in their running costs, and make that contribution before each observed run.

Each associate is expected to show a commitment to pass the IAM Advanced Test by:-

  1.   Making themselves regularly available for observed runs

  2.   Practicing their riding between the observed runs

  3.   Studying the theory by reading "Pass your Advanced Motorcycling Test", highway codes etc

  4.   Being prepared to ride in most weather conditions - if you have any doubts, contact your observer to discuss the situation

  5.   Notifying the observer in good time if you cannot attend the observed ride for any reason

The observer will give as much help and encouragement as possible, but the onus is on the associate to make the effort to reach the required standard. If the observer has not heard from the associate for a period of one month, it will be assumed that the associate has lost interest, and the associate's name will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.
